2005 -An emphasis on Communication Options

Hearing Awareness Week 2005 was theme free. Groups and individuals were encouraged to become involved in Hearing Awareness Week and arrange activities and choose a focus that would suit their community. The main aim, of course, being awareness and education.

One of Deafness Forum’s focuses was the various communication options utilised by people who are Deaf or hearing impaired as they progress through life, including Auslan, lip-reading, text telephones, relay services, captioning, visual alerts, hearing aids, cochlear implants and hearing augmentation systems.
